A Better Treat Option for Children, YumEarth Organics

Kids love snacks! That's just common knowledge! They love to snack and they want to snack on what tastes good. Usually that means a lot of snacks with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, candy, etc. Now I'm not a total health Nazi mom and don't let my kids have treats, but at the same time I don't like them to have a lot of sugar. And even when I do let them have treats, I prefer that their treats have low sugar content and are not filled with a lot of preservatives and such. Are you concerned about the amount of sugar and preservatives that your kids ingest with their snacks and treats?

YumEarth-Organics

Ever since living in Germany my kids have  had an obsession with lollipops and gummy bears. They love lollipops because that's what we'd use on the airplanes while flying to help with the pressure in their ears. Sucking on the lollipop helped their ears pop and manage the elevation changes well. They love gummy bears because Germany has some truly amazing Gummy Bear candies that are packed full of fruit flavor, tender and juicy!  But coming back to the states, we were faced with a problem. These treats in the USA are so high in sugar that I don't like to give them to my kids very often, usually they only get these treats when we go on trips.

YumEarth-Organics

That is why I absolutely love YumEarth Organics! YumEarth Organics began as two Dads wanting a create delicious treats for their kids that was made only from real ingredients. They use real fruit juice and other planet-friendly and natural ingredients. YumEarth Organics products contain

  • no artificial colors or flavors,
  • Certified organic
  • tree-nut free
  • Gluten free
  • peanut-free
  • soy-free
  • dairy free
  • fat free
  • No MSG
  • no high-fructose corn syrup.
  • Real Fruit extracts
  • Each serving provides 100% of daily vitamin C and has less than 70 calories.

YumEarth produces a small variety of organic treats for kids such as Gummy Bears, Lollipops, Sour Worms, Sour Beans, Vitamin C pops, Vitamin C Drops, Antioxidant Drops, and other such hard candy.

YumEarth-Organics

So far we have only tried the YumEarth Ogranics Gummy Bears and the Lollipops. Although I haven't seen the other products from YumEarth in our stores locally, I definitely want to give them a try because of the positive impression that YumEarth Organics gave me with just the gummy bears and lollipops.

YumEarth Organics Gummy Bears

The gummy bears were a huge success with my kids. The package comes with 10 individual serving packages, and each packet it only 70 calories and packed full of flavor!

The little packages were slightly harder to open than a typical fruit snack package because they didn't have a little "notch" started, but really anyone without carpal tunnel shouldn't have a problem getting them open. I struggled a little due to the carpal tunnel, but my two boys, 7 and 8 years old were able to open them just fine.

The gummy bears have approximately 14 little gummy bears in each little packet. The photo below is missing one, because I just couldn't resist tasting it.  The Gummy Bears have three different flavors, Pomegranate Pucker, Sour Apple Tart and Strawberry Smash. Each packet contains all three flavors.

The Gummy Bears were devoured very quickly in our house. In fact I only got to taste one packet because my kids continued to 'sneak' the gummy bears and within 2 days they were all gone. They are definitely a hit with the kids! I especially liked that the gummy bears were a soft gummy texture, instead of the rock hard gummy bears we often find in our grocery store. They were soft, easy to chew and I didn't worry about them being too difficult for Jade to eat them, and yes, she loved these.

YumEarth Organics Lollipops

Although I really enjoyed the gummy bears, the YumEarth Organics Lollipops were definitely my favorite. The lollipops come in eight different flavors:

  • very very cherry
  • too berry blueberry
  • strawberry smash
  • sour apple tart
  • pomegranate pucker
  • razzmatazz berry
  • mango tango
  • wet-face watermelon

The YumEarth Organics Lollipops are just like any normal sucker. Each one is individually wrapped, with the typical stick.

What I found so unique about the YumEarth Organics Lollipops is that they aren't as sweet as normal lollipops. Don't get me wrong they are still sweet, but not as intense. They have a stronger fruit flavor, and the tart flavors are a little more tart than you would find with a typical lollipop. You can actually tell in the flavor that these lollipops are made with real ingredients, they don't taste artificial at all. For instance, the Tart Apple actually has a slight tart flavor, where any other sour green apple sucker would be very sweet with a slight apple flavor.  I quite prefer the YumEarth Organics Lollipops to any other brand of lollipop because the flavors are more enjoyable in my opinion.

Thankfully, I'm not alone in loving the YumEarth organics Lollipops. Jade absolutely loves them and she is constantly looking for them and asking to have one. We shared the lollipops with the extended family as well, which included nine adults and four extra children. There was not a single person who did not like the lollipops, well at least that would tell me about it. Haha. Even one of the kids mentioned that the flavor wasn't as sweet as normal candy, but that he actually liked it better that way. The adults agreed the flavor was more potent and not as sweet as regular lollipops and that they really enjoyed the difference. They all also really enjoyed the fact that these treats were organic and did not contain any preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, or any allergen ingredients.

Overall;

Both the Gummy Bears and Lollipops from YumEarth Organics were a huge hit in our home and with our extended family. It was unanimously enjoyed that the flavors were more potent, in a good way. Other factors that we really enjoyed was the lack of High Fructose Corn Syrup, preservatives, and that it contained real fruit juice! Plus the fact that they are Certified Organic is always a plus!

I also love that I have been able to find the Lollipops in my local grocery store, and in our health food store just down the street! But even still if you can't find them locally they are available online.

We are currently working to diagnose a food allergy. I was delighted to find that these have none of the ingredients we are currently avoiding, and will continue to be safe for my daughter even after we figure out the culprit.
