Every day after school we have a routine where my boys are allowed to have after school snacks, then do their homework and then chores. They usually get home about 2:30 pm every day and when dinner isn't until 5:30 pm going without after school snacks is just not possible. They are growing boys and they are always hungry! Just like regular families, we have days where we have crucial appointments right after school, which would normally make it impossible to have an after school snack. But like I said, my boys just can't do that. What we need is a quick and easy snack that will keep them full until we can get home and make dinner. That is when we rely on a hearty after school snack like Hot Pockets.
Hot Pockets provide easy on-the-go after school snacks that keep kids full.
Hot pockets offer the convenience of a snack that is very quick to heat up and eat for those times when you are just stretched for time and can't fix something more substantial. They are able to heat up in just a few short minutes and they keep kids full for hours, instead of needing another snack as soon as 30 minutes later.
They come in such a large variety of flavors. My boys have been begging to get some Hot Pockets in the house for some easy and quick after school snacks, and this week I finally gave in. I took Jade and we went off to Walmart to pick up a variety of after school snacks.
There are a lot more flavors to choose from since the last time I checked out Hot Pockets. Some of them look quite tasty and I was even more excited about the side shots!
I've never seen Side Shots before! And yet each ones looks quite enticing for a quick on the go snack idea! Be sure to check out our Hot Pockets Google+ album for more details about our shopping experience.
Simple snack ideas for After School snacks
Most the time for our snacks in our house we rely on fruit, veggies and the sort. But every now and then my kids just need something a little more substantial that will keep them full longer. They love having something warm and hearty that seems a little more like a small meal than a simple fruit snack. That's when Hot Pockets can really come in handy.
- Hot pockets are filling and help keep kids full longer
- Full kids means they are out from under your feet so you can actually have some peace while you fix dinner
- Hot pockets can be prepared by many kids on their own! No need to bug mommy
- Hot pockets are great when you are stretched for time and need to get out the door yet the kids need something hearty to eat
- Hot pockets come in a large variety of flavors
- Kids love #HotPocketSnacks
- Hot pockets are great to compliment a simple snack of fruits and veggies.
- They can be found in the freezer section of your local Walmart
Kids love Hot pockets for back to school snacks!
Like I said my boys have been begging to try some Hot Pockets for quite a while. I let them each pick out the flavor they wanted to try first. T. always loves Pepperoni so obviously that was his first choice. J. wanted to try the cheeseburger Slide shots.
I love how the Hot pockets are so easy to warm up! Seriously even my kids can do this by themselves! The Crisp sleeve is definitely my favorite part of the regular hot pockets, as it keeps them from getting soggy and gross during the cooking. Most things that you warm up in the microwave either become super hard on the edges or become soggy and just aren't as good as when they are cooked fresh in the oven. But the Hot Pockets turn out just as great after a few minutes in the microwave as they do cooked in the oven.
The Slider shots are a lot different from the regular Hot Pockets. You don't need a crisp sleeve, yet at the same time they still turn out great after being cooked in the microwave. They come out warm, golden and with delicious melted cheese centers! And no, the buns aren't soggy at all.
Both boys absolutely loved their simple snack after school! It was ready to go in just a few short minutes, which was great because they were "Starving!" And even better, it filled each one up very quickly! Both boys could only eat about half of their serving and then were full for the next four hours! Seriously, I can't remember the last time my boys went a full 4 hours without asking me for something to eat; well except for when they are sleeping!
It is so nice to have a quick and easy go to snack option for when the kids need something a little more substantial in their after school snacks, yet I need more time to get dinner ready!

These look great! We are going to have to try them for a quick snack or meal! We have a busy schedule now that school’s back in session!
Oh, I bet my boy would love the Sideshots!
That crispy crust looks great! I definitely want to try that kind!
I love Hot Pockets and used to take this to work with me for lunch.
My kid would eat these every day if I let him!
Oh yum! I love easy foods and these look delicious!
My kids LOVE these too! They are easy for them to make themselves when they want a filling snack. Great Post!
all 3 males in my house love hot pockets and they are so easy to make for them =]
I have not bought Hot Pockets in such a long time, but when we do have them, they don’t last very long in the house at all.
I didn’t know they had sliders – I’ll have to check them out.
We haven’t had those in a good while. I didn’t know about the cheeseburger side ones!! I could maybe be talked into buying those for the small fry!
I haven’t had hot pockets in so long! I think we’d like those sideshots.
I saw side shots the other day and wanted to try them out!
Thanks for the ideas. I usually bake a treat once a week (cookies, muffins, brownies etc) , the other 4 days we have fruit, yogurt, granola bars etc.
