Is the Switch to iPhone 4S from iPhone 4 Worth the Money?

Now that the iPhone 4S has been out for some time, you probably are asking if it is worth switching to it; especially if you have an iPhone 4. Physical Features

The iPhone 4 and the 4S are almost exactly the same. It has the same size and dimensions with the 4S weighing a little bit more, which is insignificant. These two are also made of the same materials and has the same screen size and quality. Overall, there is a very small difference between the two in terms of direct observation. Thus, this will definitely not sway you into switching over.

Processing Power

The new iPhone 4S has been upgraded to the Apple A5 processor from the A4 processor. To what end? iPhone 4S can now process applications and operations faster than its predecessor. Because of this, it can also run new apps that the previous version could not. As far as I'm concerned however, all the worthwhile applications that you can run in the iPhone 4S can also run in the iPhone 4.

Connectivity

The iPhone 4s is considered to be a world phone and can connect to your network anywhere you are provided that your roaming feature is activated. The iPhone 4 on the other hand has a pentaband which means that it can connect to your network almost anywhere you are in the world. Again, this difference is quite trivial unless you are going to a country where a pentaband phone is not enough.

Camera

4S has upgraded to 8MP from its 5MP predecessor. However, if you will only be viewing the pictures taken on online or in your phone, then there is hardly any difference. The difference can only be noticed when you are zooming the picture really closely or if you will be printing it in very large sizes.

Movie Resolution

Upgraded from 720p, the 4S now has full HD movie resolution. This is particularly good if you will be connecting your iPhone 4S in a TV set that is larger than 42 inches. Otherwise, you can hardly tell the difference. Siri Perhaps Siri is the only significant advantage of the iPhone 4S over the iPhone4. Siri is very smart and useful. You can perform complicated commands such as searching for the nearest restaurants with a simple command using natural language. Siri is that smart. However, Siri has been having issues understanding some accents. If you are not a native English speaker, then Siri may not be for you. So is Siri worth a couple hundred of dollars? I would suggest saving it for the iPhone 5.

In summary, there are differences that you can see between iPhone 4 and 4S. It’s really up to you whether you upgrade or not.
