KidCo PeaPod Travel Bed Review

If you have kids, you know how important it is to have a nice travel bed. If we went on any trip we would always have to take along a big play yard for our kids to sleep in. While it was helpful, it had quite a lot of disadvantages such as taking up a lot of space, heavy to carry, takes a lot of time to set up, no shade available, and more. We have quite a few trips planned this summer, and a lot of outings with long hours in the sun and I knew that hauling a play yard with us everywhere was just not going to work, I needed to find an affordable and effective new travel bed for our little toddler!

The Kidco PeaPod Plus travel bed was the solution I was looking for! Kidsafe is an independent child proofer that carries Kidco products due to their superior child safety features. Kidsafe focuses on offering  the highest quality child safety products and knowledgeable home safety tips to create safer homes for kids and peace of mind for parents. They definitely offered me peace of mind with the option of having a safe travel bed for all of our home needs.

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

Can you believe the entire travel bed is inside this small box? Which means it compacts even smaller than this box! This is definitely a much easier travel bed to pack and haul around.

Peapod-Travel-Bed

The Peapod Plus travel bed comes in this sleek carry bag, and yes, everything you need for the bed is held inside this bag. It holds the bed itself, the air mattress, and the hand pump for the mattress. Now with many products, sure they have the great idea of an easy carry bag, but once it's been opened after the factory process, it's almost impossible to get the product back into the carry bag! You all know you've dealt with products like that! Sleeping bags are usually the worst one for us. So I'm quite excited to tell you that the Peapod Plus travel bed is not one of those!  After folding the bed up, everything easily fit back inside the bag and it was easy to zip close! So, you can still use the easy carry bag over and over again!

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

The Peapod Plus travel bed comes with an air mattress as well. You can blow it up with your mouth if you so choose, but it also comes with a hand pump for faster inflation. I preferred the hand pump method myself.  It features a standard air mattress seal.

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

Setting up the travel bed was quite simple! In fact blowing up the air mattress was the most time consuming part. With the hand pump it took approximately 4 minutes to pump the mattress up. Then you close the seal and insert it into the mattress compartment of the travel bed.

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

The travel bed itself, once taken out of the elastic restraint, literally pops open on it's own. Thus it is ready in less than a minute! I honestly didn't expect it to be so easy, and it popping into position on it's own gave me quite a start as I wasn't expecting it, but I sure did enjoy how easy it was to set up.

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

Now even with the travel bed only taking a few minutes to set up, Jade just couldn't wait! As soon as the mattress was blown up, she just had to give it a try! It is definitely a great size for her. It is big enough to allow her to  lay down in all her crazy angles and still be comfortable.

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

One feature I absolutely love about the Peapod Plus travel bed is that there is a compartment specifically for the mattress. You don't lay the mattress inside the travel bed. There is a zipper on the bottom that you open up and slide the mattress inside. I love this because it provides extra safety for your child. There are no cracks or crevices between the mattress and the side of the travel bed for things or babies to get stuck between. You don't have to worry about a toddler messing around and pulling the mattress up, or sticking things beneath it. You also don't have to worry about the kid getting a hold of the seal on the mattress and deflating it.

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

The Peapod Plus travel bed also offers protection from bugs and other elements when you are away from your home! This is one of the features I love about the travel bed more so than a typical play yard. I can use this when we are out at the park or other locations away from home. If Jade needs a nap or just some time away from the sun, I can quickly set this up and place her inside. With the screens she can still get fresh air and a breeze but she is protected from the bugs!

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

The travel bed has 4 wind screens that can be unzipped and rolled up to allow for air circulation. One on each side. And yes, they each feature easy to use slip ties that allows the flat to stay open. The front opening is large for easy access to an infant child, or easy for a little one to climb in and out of without any trouble. Jade was in and out of this multiple times without any trouble doing it on her own.

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

I am happy to report that I'm not the only one in the family that loves the Peapod Plus Travel bed. Once it was set up Jade jumped right in and immediately laid down and pretended to sleep. She spent a good portion of the afternoon in this travel bed playing and just enjoying it.

I am excited to take it with us on our  next family outing to the park, or the next day we spend all day at Grandma and Papa's house! This travel bed will allow Jade to  still take her nap and allow for shade on these hot summer days.

The travel bed comes offers:

  • 4 mesh panels
  • Easy fold, 3 hoop design
  • Storage Bag
  • Anchor straps- yes you can anchor it to the dirt ground to ensure it won't blow away.
  • 4 adjustable wind screens
  • 50% UV Protection
  • Inflatable mattress
  • Air pump
  • Fit for use for babies and toddlers From birth to 6 years
  • easy storage
  • lightweight for travel
  • Uses less space in travel

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

The part I was most worried about was refolding the travel bed. How was I going to get it to fold as nicely as the factory personnel? Yet the instructions were well written and easy to follow and within just a few minutes I had the bed folded up in the same small package that it came in. I also love the elastic feature that is attached to the bottom of the travel bed. Once the travel bed is folded up, you simply slip it over the bed and it keeps it folded into place! All you have to do is slip it off and the bed will spring back into place for use again. Like I said, it is very easy to set up and fold up for storage! I just love how easy this bed is to use!

Overall

PeaPod-Travel-Bed

We have loved the Peapod Plus travel bed! It is easy to use, takes up a lot less space, is lightweight for travel, and is amazingly simple to set up! Jade loves her new travel bed, and I love that it protects her from the sun, UV rays, bugs and more.

The Peapod Plus travel bed regularly retails for $99.99 but it can be purchased from Kidsafe Inc Website for only $89.99. They also feature other models of the Peapod starting at just $39.99 and up.

I didn’t know the bed was inflatable. I thought is was just a foam padding. This would be perfect for us as we move across country, or better yet, this would be perfect for my best friend who is pregnant with twins and lives in a 2 bedroom place with 2 children already.

This is great! I love how small it folds, and that the pad can be inflated in only 4 minutes. It’s great for sun protection and the kids would love it. I can Just see them playing with it like a fort.
