What is it about kids and their obsession with electronics, especially my smartphone? My boys always want to play the games on my phone, and my 2 year old daughter is even worse! Now, they have some truly amazing games available for my Optimus S android phone, and some are quite fun! But the problemt I ran into is every time I let my kids play with my phone, when I get it back there are a ton of settings changed, ads have been clicked on and strange phone calls have been made! Do you have the same problem?

I stopped letting my kids play on my phone because I just couldn't trust them to not mess up my phone or cost us a lot in ad clicks or phone calls to who knows where. But just this week I found a new app that can change all of that! KidsCare is an android phone app that offers complete parental control over what your children can access while they are using your phone!

The KidsCare app is easy to download and really easy to install and set up!

It featured a fun icon that you can place on your main screen making it easy to access. To set up each user profile you simply select the icon and you are on your way.

Simply click add user and you are on your way to setting up a new user profile. You can have as many user profiles as you need, and each one is customizable for each child.

You can customize each profile with it's own name, and you can even select your own choice of image from your phone's gallery for each user. Then you click on select apps and you are taken to a new screen which lists all the apps on your phone. Simply select the ones you want that user to have access too. Then hit save.

I also love that you can even set a time limit for how long each user can use the phone! We always limit the kids and their video games, and now I can even enforce the same time limit for the usage of my phone too.

So I made a profile for Jade first off. Isn't that so adorable? I just picked a picture that was already on my phone and now I know which profile belongs to which kid.

I have three apps on my phone that I allow Jade to play with. Now seeing as she is the one that loves playing with my phone the most, but is also the most guilty on changing settings and messing up my phone, I thought I'd use her to put the KidsCare app to the test. So I turned on Jade's profile and handed her the phone. I watched her for 10 minutes. No matter what buttons she pushed she was not able to access anything but these three apps. The apps even have little Ads at the top and she even clicked them. It would then take us back to this screen with a little message saying, "app was blocked". I was So grateful because Jade was really pushing some crazy combination of buttons trying to get into the settings and no matter what she did, she just couldn't do it.

The only way to exit the KidsCare app is by putting in a user password that you set up at the same time you create the profile. So there is no way that Jade can get out of the app without my help. And entering the password even has a timer so if it takes the child too long trying to put in the password it automatically cancels it out and takes them back to their approved apps.

So what if you get a phone call while the kid is playing on the phone? You can actually adjust the settings to allow incoming phone calls no matter the profile. This is very beneficial as my cell phone is the only phone we have. So when someone calls I need to be able to know someone is calling and I can answer it.

If you had an older child, you can even set the settings to where they could call out if you wanted. But my kids aren't to that stage yet, so I keep it set to where only incoming calls are allowed.

Overall, I have absolutely loved this app and it is definitely a keeper on my phone! I now have peace of mind when I let Jade play with my phone while we are out running errands that she won't be accessing apps, settings or making phone calls that she shouldn't be. It is very easy to use, and works just as described.

My only complaint is that it is only available for android phones! I would love to have an app like this for our iPad to keep the kids out of the Husband's school work apps and only in the games they are approved to play.

You can purchase the KidsCare App from the Google play store as well as the amazon app store and is well worth the $0.99!

Thats good that you can still have incoming calls come through – we dont have a landline either!

I’ll pass this on to my daughter as I think she would love the timer idea too. Sounds like a great app. Thanks for sharing.
