Using Neem for Tooth Care? Does It Really Work? Theraneem Naturals Tooth and Gum Powder Review and Give Away

I'm going to jump right in and say I love Neem! I was first introduced to Neem when we lived in Germany. My Sister-in-law and her family were moving to Africa (they are diplomats) and they were looking for natural solutions to many of the health concerns they would face while living in Africa for a few years. One of the natural solutions my sister-in-law told me about was Neem, as it has many health, nutritional, and medicinal benefits.

What is Neem?

Neem is a natural herbal remedy that is found originally in India and Southeast Asia. It is one of the oldest documented medicinal herbs on the planet and is even featured in Vedic texts dating back to the 6th century BCE. Neem has been used used for both topical and internal medical treatments for a vast variety of conditions including skin care, digestive care, and even oral care! I've used Neem for treating acne, calming eczema flair ups, athletes foot, and minor infections in small cuts and it has produced amazing results! It's definitely what I turn to first before a doctor visit. it is also known for being an excellent Bug repellent. So I don't know why it surprised me so much to find out that Neem has been used in oral care; more specifically Neem Bark.

Oral Care: Theraneem Naturals Tooth and Gum Powder

Neem Tooth and Gum Powder

Theraneem Naturals is a category of products from Organix-South; a leading manufacturer or certified-organic Neem products.  They produce four different products for oral care such as their Mouthwash, Toothpaste and Neem Tooth and Gum Powder, and an internal extract of Neem leaf dietary supplement. Off all the products, I had never heard of a tooth and gum powder before and was quite intrigued! The tooth and Gum powder works just like a toothpaste except that it's an actual powder. It cleans and refreshes your mouth naturally and doesn't contain any flouride, SLS, artificial flavors and is Gluten and Paraben free! It is however enriched with:

  • Xylitol
  • Probiotics
  • Vitamin D
  • suitable for Diabetics and children
  • Comes in 2 Great Tasting Flavors- Cinnamon and Mint
  • Cost effective

When our bottle of Theraneem naturals Tooth and Gum Powder arrived, The Husband was thinking I had gone off my rocker. He knew what I had been using Neem for in the past, and was quite leery of trying it for his oral treatment. But somehow I convinced him to try it and to both of our surprise, he actually really liked it! And I don't just mean, "yeah, that' was pretty good"…I mean he really liked it! After his first use of the powder he started asking a lot of different questions about it and said he was quite impressed with it. His mouth felt clean, fresh and he loved the flavor.

My only draw back to the Powder is that it is a little messy. You are to wet your toothbrush and then sprinkle the powder onto your toothbrush and then brush. Yet, I'm not the most accurate in my sprinkling and I end up with a little in the sink each time. More than the mess, I dislike wasting the powder as it is such a great mouth cleanser! The husband is much better at not wasting than I am.

I've noticed that the Neem tooth and Gum powder does not foam as much as regular tooth paste does, which is actually one of my favorite features! I hate brushing my teeth and end up with a mouth full of foam to the point of gagging and leaking down my chin. This happens all the time even with just a small amount of tooth paste. Yet, the tooth and gum powder lathers very slightly and I don't ever feel like I'm gagging on it. The flavor is actually really nice!

It has an enjoyable cinnamon flavor, yet it also features clover and other herbs for a unique taste I've not experienced with any other tooth cleaning product. For me it reminded me slightly of black licorice. But don't worry if you don't like black licorice, it's not very strong of a hint. I really dislike Black licorice, but I really enjoy the cinnamon flavor of the Neem tooth and Gum powder. Although I love the cinnamon flavor I would love to try the mint flavor next, seeing as the flavors are not over powering.

I really like that the Tooth and Gum powder is a great alternative oral care for diabetics and children. I had to give it a try with the munchkins. The boys did not like the Tooth and Gum powder, but I really shouldn't be surprised, as they don't like cinnamon nor mint. But Jade, our sweet toddler really enjoyed the flavor and let me brush her teeth thoroughly.

Overall, we've been quite impressed with the Neem tooth and gum powder. It cleans well, tastes great and is all natural! Three out of five in our household really enjoy the neem tooth and gum powder. It's also great for our pocket book as each bottle holds 200 brushings and costs only $7.99, which equals out to be about $0.03 per use!
