Thanks to my boys deciding that they believe in Santa this year, they have also decided that we must should  leave Santa cookies on Christmas Eve. Well, seeing as someone will have to be eating these cookies (ie..ME) I decided we needed to make some cookies that “Santa” can really enjoy. So this Christmas Santa will be placed in a sugar coma after stopping at our house, because we made him Oreo Truffles! They are such a gourmet delight; yet you wouldn’t believe how incredibly easy they are to make! So I thought I’d share them with you, so maybe your Santa can be in a Sugar coma after his visit to your house too.

Holiday Oreo Truffles Recipe and Tutorial. Easy Creation.

Oreo Truffles Ingredients:

You will be amazed at just how simple these delectable truffles are! And very few ingredients too! Just three ingredients! Now that is a nice shopping list, am I right?

  • 1-8 oz package Cream Cheese
  • 1 package of Oreo cookies (any flavor; chocolate filled, Mint, double stuffed, they are all delicious)
  • Chocolate Almond bark-I used about 4-5 squares for the entire batch; but you could use less.

Oreo Truffles Directions:

Crush all the oreos into a fine crumble. I love using the food processor for this, as it does it quickly and I can be sure there aren’t any large chunks left.  It should look like this:

Next combine the softened Cream Cheese to the crumbled oreos and pack tightly.
Tip: I find it does better when dipped in the almond bark if you place the oreo mix into the fridge/freezer while you melt the chocolate.

Now melt the Almond bark in the double boiler just as we discussed in the  Tutorial of Chocolate covered Pretzels.

Use a small cookie/ice cream scoop or a small spoon and dish out small balls of the oreo mixture.

Roll the oreo ball in the melted chocolate and place on a sheet of parchment paper and sprinkle with your favorite color and style of sprinkles.

Now; I’m not the cleanest cook, in fact I make quite the mess, especially when it comes to dipping things in chocolate, but that is one of the reasons why I LOVE parchment paper, it sure makes clean up a lot easier!

Once you get all the Oreo balls dipped and sprinkled; let them sit for a few minutes to ensure that the chocolate has hardened a little, and then remove to a plate or storage container and chill in the fridge.

When you are ready; remove from the fridge and serve. That’s all there is to it; and yet they are so delectable!

I hope your Santa is as spoiled as our Santa will be!

This recipe is also great with different types of dipping chocolate including White chocolate and others.

Also to mix things up, try the different flavors of Oreos! Peanut butter and Mint Oreos also turn out amazing!
Let me know how your Oreo Truffles turn out!

Would your Santa appreciate some Oreo Truffles this Christmas?

I LOVE these! These are some of our favorite treats at Christmas and they are SO easy to get together…until you have to dip them. I’m HORRIBLE at it. It makes me really glad to see that I’m not the only one who makes a mess :)

@ Debbi: I've tried regular oreos, Double stuffed oreos, and this last time we used the Chocolate stuffed oreos. all were VERY delicious! I think next time we will try the Mint oreos or the peanut butter. They definitely sound delicious.

Nutter butters would probably be really good too!

@Sarah, Thankfully we spend Christmas Eve and Christmas day at the Grandparent's house with the aunt and 2 uncles, so my kids had 7 different Santas that helped eat this plate of goodies…but yes, each one of us hit sugar comas, and we're trying to recover today. haha. And we still have left overs! ha!

Looks deliciously decadent! I can see how parchment paper comes in handy for a recipe like this! I hope Santa has recovered from all the sugar! :)

I made these for the first time this year, and they are SOOO good! I will definitely be making these again. I just used regular Oreos–have you tried any of the other flavors? I would like to try the peanut butter filled Oreos next, or maybe just crumble Nutter Butters instead of Oreos?
