Today, let's talk about comfort food! Food has somehow over the ages changed from merely being a means to keep our bodies alive, to being associated with feelings, emotions and festivities. When you have a social gathering it usually revolves around the food! When you think of Thanksgiving; the first thing that usually comes to mind is TURKEY Dinner! Again…food!

Think of the phrase, comfort food. That explains it all! Now food is a means of comforting our souls. Even though a lot of times, especially with those overweight or struggling with depression; this comfort food only comforts for a short period and then the sorrow returns full force or even double.

Sadly I'm no exception to having my emotions manipulated by food! I love food; but more than that, I love great tasting food! I have my favorites, my comfort food, and my obsessive food. Each one has it's place and each one brings me that temorary feeling of elation, joy yet also a feeling of relaxation at the same time! So lets get down to the good stuff! And forgive me if I make you crave some great Comfort Food!

Dr. Pepper! If you know me at all, you know I have an unhealthy obsession with Dr Pepper! Oh goodness I am literally addicted to it! I did an experiment and it's not the caffeine, as I've been drinking caffeine free for the last two weeks. It's the actual flavor and unique level of carbonation that I haven't not found paralleled in any other beverage.

PopcornI love a variety of different popcorn from air popped, old fashioned cooked popcorn, microwave and gourmet popcorn! I just love it all!

Gourmet FriesIt can't just be any fries, it has to be Idaho potato fries cut up and hand fried! No fast food stuff for this comfort food!

Cheesecake! Oh, but not just any cheesecake. No, I'm quite particular about this. It has to be my mom's no bake, easy cheesecake! My husband says it's more like a cream cheese pie! It is the most heavenly thing you've ever tasted and extremely easy to make! Don't normally like cheesecake? Don't worry, I've had MANY people who hate cheesecake love this recipe!

Oreo Truffles! Now this one blew me away at how easy they were to make and yet Oh so delicious! When you have a top comfort food list, you always have to have something that would equal death by chocolate and this one definitely takes the cake!

Schokoschnecke! Now this is one of the many foods I miss from Germany! It is the perfect blend between a croissant, pastry, and cinnamon roll, but with chocolate instead!

Schoko schnecke German Pastry comfort food

Spaghetti Eis! Another delicacy from Germany that is greatly missed! Imagine soft ice cream in the shape of noodles placed over whipped cream with a delicious strawberry sauce and tiny coconut flakes! Now the thing is, Whipped cream in Germany is nothing like it is in the US. It isn't sweet, nor is it as creamy and thick. I don't really know how to describe it, except the ice cream actually freezes the whipped cream and it is such a splendid mixture, and not too sweet.

Oh, I could go on and on, but really I think I've made you drool enough! Did  you notice that we have recipes for a vast number of those comfort foods that create such a joyful rush? Yeah, you should check them out! And best of all, they are quite easy to make too!

Why is it that comfort food is almost always horrible for our bodies if it's suppose to bring us comfort?

What food brings you intense joy to eat?

Funny..I made Dr Pepper spareribs a few weeks ago by HEARTSICK TEXAN and oh my…I went to town…and I don’t even drink that soda. My comfort food is anything salty (chips, homemade fries-like you..bacon anything etc..) Pasta is another one for me too… Gosh, I must just love food….

mmmm! I’m hungry! I seriously had to give up Dr. Pepper because I was so obsessed with it. Now when I have a sip it’s like “mmmmmm!” heaven!

My absolute comfort food is macaroni and cheese. I have been making it from scratch ever since I got married, and I love making it for the holidays!
