Using Nutrisystem While Sick; Week 11 report #NSNation #Spon

It's that time of the week again, when you get to see just how well I'm faring on the Nutrisystem program. I will get right down to business, it was a hard week. Not that I was tempted and wanted to eat off program, but because I got sick and it brought up some issues. So let's talk about using the Nutristystem program while you are sick. Can you still use the program if you get sick? Absolutely but there are a few things you will want to account for.

Using Nutrisystem While Sick.

Nutrisystem

This week was going very well. By Mid-week I had already lost another pound. I know I shouldn't have jumped the gun and weighed in mid-week but I was feeling skinnier and I wanted to see that number. Yeah, it was a great feeling. And then the next morning I woke up not feeling so great. At first I thought it was just allergies because we've been having a lot of forest fires nearby and it really irritated my allergies.

But after two days of my symptoms only getting worse, and the medicine not helping one bit, I finally gave in and admitted I was sick. Up to this point I had still been eating my Nutrisytem meals, but I did have to cut out the exercise because of the smoke irritation to my lungs. I tried to just be more active around the house since I couldn't do a full workout.

After the second day of being sick, things took a turn for the worst. I got the Aches, chills, and frankly I succumbed to the cold. So what happens with my eating? Well, I did well getting in the water intake, at first. But as with all illness, I just started to not feel like eating or drinking anything. It was struggle to get the water in.

Add to that, the only thing that gave my burning throat relief was SALT. So in an attempt for some relief, I increased my sodium intake. Not good when you are trying to lose weight. I immediately started to retain water.

I found however that there are some great meals on the Nutrisystem plan that I was able to eat and feel like I was eating some comfort food while sick!

Comfort Food on the Nutrisystem Program for a sick day.

For the breakfasts, my biggest comfort food was the Chocolate covered donut. It has a great taste, and with just a quick 5 seconds in the microwave, the chocolate is lightly melted and it was quite delicious. It satisfied me in the mornings, and was tempting enough to eat even when I didn't want to eat anything.

For lunches, I was able to enjoy a nice chicken noodle soup. It was just what I was needing. Sadly I only had one. I felt quite distraught the next day when I realized I didn't have any more of them. I will be getting some on my next food order for sure!

When that was gone, I relied a lot on the cheesy Home style Mashed Potatoes. Those are a definite favorite of mine sick or not. Sadly I'm now almost out of them too as that was all I could bare to eat after the Chicken soup was gone.

Now this is where I really fell. My stomach is very sensitive to Cold and allergy medication. After the first two days, it was already quite irritated and I found many of the Dinners were too spicy for my stomach to handle. Now, I'm not saying the dinners are spicy, but that for my worn out and irritated stomach, even the mild spices of the dinners were too much for it. I ended up succumbing and ate what ever mild food was brought to my house by kind neighbors and family who knew I was sick.

But had I not had the stomach issues, I could have easily relied on even the Nutrisystem dinners to get me through this cold. Having the Nutrisytem meals was definitely a blessing; as it provided me with complete meals full of nutrition that were very easy to make, which is a big issue for someone sick and can't stand to be up cooking for more than a minute or two.

So yes, You can still use the Nutrisystem while sick. Just try to not follow my lead and increase your sodium intake and eat dinners off plan. The Nutrisystem plan can make sure you are still getting the healthy nutrition you need so dearly while your body fights off the germs.

Week 11 Results on Nutrisytem

So I knew my results this week weren't going to be very good. I knew how many dinners I had off plan, and I knew how dreadfully bloated I felt with that increased sodium intake in an attempt to combat my flaming sore throat. But still I weighted in.

Starting weight: 185.2
Week 1: 179.4
Week 2: 176.8
Week 3: 176.8
Week 4: 174.8
Week 5: 172.0
Week 6: 172.0
Week 7: 174.0
Week 8: 174.0
Week 9: 173.0
Week 10: 171.6

Week 11: 173.4 The number isn't pretty, but I do know that most of that is still water retention from the added sodium this last week.

On a happier note, I did happen to lose another half inch around my waist, so that definitely brightened my day!

The cold is finally on the mend. It's not gone, so I will still have a few more days combating a cold, but at least I have easy Nutrisystem meals to keep me eating healthy through it all. Hopefully next week my number will be out standing and I can finally break past the 170's!

This is great. I have always wanted to know if and how this works before I spent my money on it.

Look at you go! I always wondered about Nutrisystem and was it well…nutritious :) Maybe a minor setback but I give you lots of credit for sticking with the program while you were sick. Now I can’t wait to see next week’s results!!
